LogiqBoard is an official SBS Winner!

Hi Everyone.

I have a wonderful event to share with you. LogiqBoard won their first award! We’re now an official SBS winner. This means we’re part of the small business network led by Mr Theo Paphitis. Theo is a well known business magnate, entrepeneur and former Dragon from the famous Dragons Den TV programme. It’s an honour that our little LogiqBoard business was one of his favourites just before Christmas.

What is LogiqBoard?

For those of you who may now know LogiqBoard is an interactive, sharable, online chessboard. Actually it’s more than a chessboard. You can play mini chess games, strategy games and explore logic puzzles. It’s for home, the classroom, for learning, connecting and having fun.

Our 1st award

This is our first award and hopefully the first of many. Becoming an SBS winner means being part of a network of small businesses here in the UK. I love networking and being inspired. It gives me such a buzz, I love the positive energy when I meet people with ideas and dreams and hear their origin stories of how an idea became reality. Friday’s event was a celebration. Hundreds of small and micro business came together to develop and grow.

Highlights from the SBS day

Besides feelings of joy and gratitude to be at the event I also took away lots of ideas. If you don’t know already, I’m a primary maths specialist and primary school teacher for over 20 years. And like many of my fellow teachers I know very little about business or finance. I loved the session by Google UK on tech, websites and growth. I had a fab 1:1 session with Donna, the social media manager for Ryman’s stationery. The creation stories from the business panel were amazing, how fascinating to hear that an idea shared in the kitchen can turn into making a million.

A Queen’s story

My personal highlight though was listening to guest speaker Stacey Solomon, sharing her career highlights and the importance of a support network. Great business talk, work ethic and advice on chasing dreams. From X-Factor contestant, TV presenter, influencer with millions of followers, to business investor and mother of five children. I’ve never witnessed a Q&A session where people holding the microphone are crying as they ask a question. Stacey has often given small businesses a platform, often without realising the impact she had on their sales and growth. The arena was full of love and gifts for Stacey!

So what next?

I’m looking forward to my nonteaching days so I can process everything and think about business planning and goal setting, not just for LogiqBoard but for life. You get to think big on days like this but you also come away with realistic and specific next steps. Hard work and research were messages that were evident throughout. You have to try and failure isn’t some thing to be feared.

A small example of a next step is sharing the positive feedback on our website. I’ve heard, ‘oh my gosh, I use LogiqBoard every day!’ to ‘it’s not LogiqBoard, it’s magic board!’. My young students also tell me how much they love LoqiqBoard but I never note it down. This is one tiny example on my action plan. The rest is secret for now.

A King and his power

I’ll finish off by saying Theo Paphitis is a King in the business world. He is a value driven business man and I have a great deal of respect for people who are led by values. What a wonderful network you have created, giving back to the community and quiet voices. Great work by the SBS team and oh my, the goody bag was amazing. Teachers are grateful for a clean mug of tea, some new gluesticks and whiteboard pens. So opening the SBS goody bag was the perfect ending! I can’t wait for the next event.

See you next month, in the mean time head over to LogiqBoard and play some strategy games, chess games or try some great logic puzzles.

I’ll leave you with a question:

Do the skills below happen across the chessboard or in business?

Decision making, calculating risks, planning ahead, making a sacrifice, being flexible, coping with failure, winning and doing your research.

Maybe I could be a business woman after all 🤯
